June 26, 2018
On June 23, 2018, Tishomingo Sheriff’s deputies with assistance from Belmont Police officers, conducted a traffic stop on Second Street in Belmont for seatbelt violations. During the course of the traffic stop, deputies learned that the driver had suspended drivers license and was then placed under arrest. A search of the vehicle turned up some alleged METHAMPHETAMINE that was found inside the vehicle. Both the driver and the passenger, a white female was then transported to the Tishomingo County Jail. While at the jail, the female was searched by female corrections officers and was found to have hidden on her some more alleged METHAMPHETAMINE as well as some pipes. The corrections staff took possession of the items and a short time later the female became sick and was immediately transported to the hospital, where she was admitted by the medical staff at North Mississippi Medical Center and her condition is unknown.
